DYNO
Canobolas Diesel and Turbo have a 2wd chassis dynomometer from Mainline which asissts us greatly to confirm low power complaints without guessing, and is comforting to see the printed proof of power and torque graphs. Most of our repairs in the workshop usually coincide with usng our Dyno as it is quite often needed to be able to repeat conditions replicating a problem we are diagnosing on a vehicle.
To those unfamiliar with the Dyno and its operation, don't be afraid. A common 'ramp run' usually only lasts for about 45 seconds and simply allows the rollers to accellerate at a predetermined rate per second and measures the torque whilst driving the rear wheels from around 40kph up to around 120kph in whatever gear is direct 1:1, ie 4th gear in a 5 speed manual. This is about the same as pulling out in traffic to overtake a B-double, that's it.
Our priority is to bring vehicles back to their original performance and providing proof with the printed results of before and after repair. For those who are after a little more for towing or just want more power, we offer a performance upgrade with the addition of a Steinbauer module (see products for more info).
The Chassis Dynomometer is often referred to as a Rolling Road, and is an apt description for its purpose. We just think of it as a big hill in our shop with the benefit of having all sorts of diagnostic equipment hooked up whilst still being stationary.
With our years of dyno runs under our belt we have an extensive database of saved runs so we are able to quickly compare and identify if there is a loss of power.
